About Chirpy
Assign distinct audio cues to incoming macOS notifications. This utility runs locally in your menu bar to process alerts from applications like Slack, Teams, Mail, and Discord. It intercepts incoming notification banners to match them against your rules, playing custom sounds, triggering system shortcuts, or reading text aloud based on specific channels, keywords, or sender names without accessing external APIs.
Who is Chirpy for?
Remote workers, developers, and Slack-heavy teams who suffer from constant notification fatigue. Before using this tool, they had to stop working and check their screens every time a generic ping sounded, unable to distinguish between a critical production outage, a direct message from their manager, or a meme posted in a casual channel.
How does Chirpy work?
First, install the app on your Mac and grant accessibility permissions. Next, set up rules targeting specific messaging channels, senders, or keywords. Finally, select your preferred sound from the curated library, upload an audio file of your own, or type text for the built-in text-to-speech engine to speak notifications aloud.
